Next committee meeting of Patient Voice: Tuesday 10 February 2026 at 6.30pm

What is Patient Voice?

[Also known as the Strand Patient Participation Group]

Note: ALL patients registered at The Strand are members of Patient Voice

We represent all patients and seek their feedback to develop the Practice and help improve the service for everyone. We do not deal with any patient-specific health matters.

How can I help the surgery to deliver a great experience for all its patients?

  • Give feedback to Patient Voice – e-mail  anita.nutt@nhs.net or write your feedback in the Comments Book which is on the bookcase in Reception.
  • Volunteer to sit on the Patient Voice Committee which works closely with the Practice to share feedback and ideas and act as a sounding board for the managers and doctors.

What sort of people are you looking for?

We welcome every volunteer but would particularly love to hear from younger patients, working age patients and those from minority groups so that we represent the whole community and understand everyone’s perspective.

How have you made a difference to patients and the surgery?

  • We have passed on suggestions, concerns and questions from patients and fed back the answers.
  • We were consulted and shown the KLINIK system before it was introduced.
  • We have influenced changes to the messages patients hear when they ring the surgery.
  • We supported completion of the last Practice Survey and followed up the outcomes.
  • We have produced newsletters to keep patients informed about our work.
  • We lobbied for funding for the new surgery, working closely with local politicians.

What do you do in the Patient Voice meetings?

  • The Practice Manager updates us on current issues and staffing changes so we can give feedback from a patient’s point of view.
  • Sometimes a doctor, nurse or other specialist will come and talk about a specific subject.
  • If any new systems are being considered, we are given a chance to understand how they might work and influence things before any change is finalised.

How much time would I need to give if I joined the Committee?

  •  We meet six times a year for an hour or so with the Practice Manager and other clinicians who keep us up to date and answer our questions.
  •  You just need to read the minutes and agenda before the meeting and come prepared to give your views and ask any questions you have.

Alternatively, you can be a ‘Virtual Patient’

If you don’t want to or cannot attend meetings, you can still get involved by signing up to receive our newsletters and other relevant information.

We currently have 228 members in the Virtual Patient group and would love more patients to join!
