How do I see or speak to a doctor?
At the Strand we have always tried to be proactive with regards to patient access. Over the last few years we have constantly reviewed our appointment system and made changes in-line with patient feedback. On average our Duty team deal with over 150 patient contacts a day meaning we are working beyond suggested regulations, therefore on occasions we have needed to ask patients with non urgent problems to call us back the next day, equally we are aware that booking a routine appointment can have its challenges. In order to address this, we have met with our patient group, staff and invested in a new system called KLINIK. This online triage system will ensure that patients are treated equitably, it will also identify urgent cases that need to be dealt with that day, cases that are classed as routine will continue to be dealt with swiftly, but not necessarily that day.
Our reception team will be trained on how to use KLINIK so that they can go talk through the form and help patients that do not have access to a computer or have a condition that means it is not possible to complete the form, meaning every contact with the surgery receives the same level of high quality triage.
More information will be released in time, in the interim please read the section below to gain a better overview.
Contact Us Online
With our new online consultation service you can submit any medical query, including requests for an appointment, at a time when it suits you.
We will be using Klinik Online Triage for all contact with the surgery including appointment requests, as well as prescription requests, test results, referrals, sick notes etc. By using this triage system, it means that patients will be managed more equitably and effectively, connecting our patients to the right person for the right service.
For patients who meet any of the criteria below, please be reassured you can still call the surgery on 01903 243351 where one of our Reception team will be able to assist you:
If you provide an email address in your Klinik submission, you should receive an email to confirm the system has received your query.
We aim to review all routine queries that are submitted before 5pm on the same working day however we may not contact you until the next working day. All queries submitted after 5pm, or outside the surgery’s opening hours, will be reviewed the next working day.
Your submitted query will be assessed by an appropriate member of the team, dependent on the query. This may result in a Receptionist calling you to arrange an appointment, or the GP may call you to deal with your medical issue.
Our primary means of contacting you is via an SMS text message or a phone call. We will make one attempt to contact you but, if we are unsuccessful, we will close your query
